Skipper Training

It is not necessary to have a boat master’s certificate to hire one of our ships. However, we have found that with little or no experience it is very hard to manoeuvre for the bridges and in narrow harbours.

Therefore we have developed along with the SSH Shippers Start Help a plan for a course, lasting from two to four hours. You will practise for minimal 2 to maximal 4 hours with an experienced SSH instructor. It is also possible to practise for a whole day.

You will be taught to control your hired ship in many different situations. Of course mooring your hired ship will also be practised with your own crew. We believe that this service will lead to an even more relaxed holiday.

Are you a skipper who has no experience with motor cruisers, then SSH gives you the opportunity to learn in only one day to have optimal control over the ship you have hired from Yachtcharter Friesland.

You go on board accompanied by one of our experienced SSh instructors, who, together with you and your crew, sail through one of the most beautiful parts of the Frisian Lakes region. En route there will be an intense training regarding the steering of the ship, mooring the ship and how to pass bridges etc.

You will stay overnight on board of your hired ship at an especially for you reserved SSH pier, situated in the Mid-Friesland Watersportcentrum, near the Kameleondorp Terherne on the Sneekermeer.

For undisturbed holiday pleasure and for the safety of all crew members it is not only enough to be familiar with your ship, knowledge of a number of important rules on the water is essential. That is why SSH gives a short tailor-made one-hour theory course in the cosy SSH accommodation in the Mid-Friesland Watersportcentrum.
You will also receive an SSH info-map, where you can find everything you have learned.

After this day, you can be confident that you will thoroughly enjoy the rest of your holiday on the water.
