Raise the anchor

1. Determine the position
Use GPS or landmarks to determine the anchor position
Use the bow thruster if necessary to keep the boat in position

2. Maneuver the boat slowly to the anchor
Move forward slowly and pull in the chain/line
Crew member at the bow monitors the chain direction

3. Keep the chain/line taut
Do not let the chain drag on the bottom
Retrieve evenly until it is vertically below the bow

4. Release the anchor
If vertically, move forward/backward briefly or use the bow thruster sideways
A slight pull from above is usually enough to break the anchor.

5. Bring the anchor safely on board
Retrieve slowly and carefully
Secure the anchor (e.g., with an anchor bracket or rope)
Stow the chain/line neatly, wash off any mud

6. Inspection:

Check for damaged anchor
Check that all crew members are safely on board
Grease 12 times per season.
